“I’m not sure what you have been told about me, but I’m not nearly as bad as they make me out to be.” His deliciously deep voice carried a little bit of ego.
I’m sure you are exactly as bad as they make you out to be….
Brad De Luca is used to getting whatever and whomever he wants. The premier divorce attorney in town, he’s a playboy who’s bedded half the city—including his own clients. And when the newest intern at his firm poses a challenge, his seductive prowess goes into overdrive.
Pre-law student Julia Campbell is fresh off a failed engagement and happy with her new independence. Even if she weren’t warned away from Brad at every turn, she’d know he was bad news. The last thing she needs is a man who could destroy her job prospects, not to mention her innocence. But before she knows it, the incorrigible charmer has her under his spell. His deviant tastes plunge her deep into a forbidden world of sexual exploration…but her heart may not survive the fall.
I don’t think I like Brad De Luca. There were moments when I really, really hated the man. Alright, fine, hate is too strong of a word. Disliked? Loathed? Detested? Eh, any of them would work. He just seems dirty, and cocky. Ick. There’s a thin line between confidence and straight up douchery; Brad straddles that line.
This isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve read a few of Alessandra’s books and have loved each and every one. It also happens to be the first I’ve had mixed feelings about. It just didn’t seem to have a full dose of her usual balls-to-the-wall-no-holds-barred type of writing. Were there sexy scenes? Yes. Were they hot? Uh, of course! I just expected the story to move faster; the experiences to be more…extreme. Not for Brad, he’s extreme enough, but for Julia.
What’s the first thing that happens when you tell someone to stay away from someone else? They gravitate to them. Am I right? When Julia takes an internship at a prominent law firm, she’s not looking for love, or sex. I guess a failed engagement and freakish stalker like ex will do that to you. Broward, her new boss for lack of a better term, has warned her to keep her distance from Brad De Luca. He’s a man whore. Does Julia listen? Eh, she tries – until Brad waves a very pretty, very free trip to Vegas in front of her face. That’s when things become more complicated.
We’ve established that Brad is plain old gross. The problem is that he’s gross in the most sexually delicious way. I hate it so much that I love it. I don’t know if that makes any sense and at this point I don’t care. Apparently neither does Julia. By the end of the book she’s doing things she’d never even dreamed of. And now she has to make a decision… Can she deal with Brad’s life style, embrace it, and enjoy it; or should she let him, and his delicious body, go?
You have to be wondering about Julia. Is she whiney? Needy? Annoying? No, she is actually pretty tough, stands her ground, and tries her damnedest to resist Brad. She also has a smart mouth. The banter between Brad and Julia was just perfect. She doesn’t seem to have much of a filter; neither do I. I Loved that about her. There were moments when she was so level headed, where as I would have more than likely gone bat shit crazy. Overall, she impressed me – a lot.
I can’t wait to see what’s next for this unlikely couple. Alessandra has this innate ability to wrap an incredible story up in a blanket of hot, sticky, steamy sex. It’s the most delicious mix. I’m interested to see if Brad will grow on me, or if he’ll prove to be the pig of a man Broward believes him to be.
