Give Me Strength blew Give Me Love right out of the water. Maybe it was because I already had a good handle on most of the characters, or had FINALLY gotten used to the subtle Australian differences; whatever the reason, holy hell, it was just fabulous.
Quinn Salisbury has been passed a pretty cruddy hand in life. Her mother, if you can even call her that, has never shown her love. In fact, for years she let David, Quinn’s step father, use Quinn as a beautiful little punching bag. Four years ago, David landed blows that completely changed Quinn’s life. He’s been serving time in prison for the last few years. Unbeknownst to Quinn, he’s recently been set free.
One night at a random club changes Quinn’s life forever. It’s there that she meets Travis Valentine. After a very satisfying one night stand, Quinn finds herself sneaking out of travis’s loft only to “run into him” later that day. Working for Jamieson is a dream come true. Who would have thought that the one time she stepped outside her comfort zone to end her self-imposed sex drought, she’d end up doing it with her boss’s older brother?!
Things just get more and more out of control when David sends some pretty bad men after Quinn. Luckily the man she’s slowly falling for happens to have lots of experience in all things bad ass. He’s determined to keep her safe at any and all costs.
“How do you do that?”
“All I know is that you have to find strength somewhere inside of you and hold onto it, but I’m still figuring out where mine is.”
It’s so tough to write this review because I don’t want to give anything away. Let’s just say that if you loved Jared, you will flip over Travis. There is something about him that just made me melt. He’s sweet, yet hard and domineering. His job causes him to come in contact with the scum of the earth and it’s obvious it’s taken its toll on him. Quinn seems to have a calming/soothing influence on his otherwise tough exterior. They’re obviously made for one another.
There is just something about broken people. Quinn is so tough and so shattered. As a matter of fact, she’s worried she’ll never be whole again, or even close to it. She doesn’t feel worthy of Travis’s love or attention, and to be quiet honest that just made me love her more!
If you thought Mac and Evie’s crazy antics ended with Give Me Love, you’re wrong. They’re up to their normal unhelpful business once again. Most of the book takes place between the ending of Give Me Love and its epilogue. It’s actually pretty nice to have that gap of time filled in, especially from a new character’s POV.
Much like the first book in this series, Give Me Strength features action, excitement and gut wrenching emotion. I absolutely adored it, but if I’m honest, my heart belongs to Casey. There is something about that man that steals the show. Lucky for me, book three, Give Me Grace is all about him! Can you tell I’m excited?! I’ll be lucky if I can make it till this next book hits my kindle!
Kate’s writing is so engaging. With each book she sucks me further into the wacky world of Jamieson. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for future books.

Kate McCarthy grew up in a small town outside of Port Macquarie, Australia. Raised in a house just a short walk to the beach, Kate enjoyed the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and friendships that come from being raised in a friendly, small town area.
She now resides in Brisbane, Australia, a city in the state of Queensland where she works as an accountant, along with a sideline wedding cake business and her writing.
She is married with two children, has two dogs and house in the suburbs, and a pile of friends and family dotted all over the country that help keep her sane.
When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, crunching numbers, piping buttercream and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites. Her favourite books are the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward in which she longs to eventually join the brotherhood and change her name to Phierce Mutha.
