A man who always gets what he wants often has something to hide.
Julia Campbell never knows what to expect with win-at-all-costs Brad De Luca. And she’s starting to like it that way. She gave up safe, conventional relationships when she let the elite divorce attorney seduce her into his world. Now that he’s determined to strip her naked of her every inhibition, she’s in danger of falling too deep and too fast.
But their affair begins to feel even more dangerous when a murder leaves a trail of suspicion that points straight to the mob … and Brad. Trusting a man with a bad reputation and a past full of secrets seems like a mistake. But when she’s forced to make a choice, the consequences will take her further than she could’ve ever imagined.
Masked Innocence wasn’t exactly what I expected. Oh, who am I kidding? I didn’t know what to expect. I think that’s one of the things that draws me to Alessandra’s books, that and the abundance of crazy erotic sex. What? I’m just being honest. I like being kept on my toes while sexually frustrated. So sue me.
Brad is as Brad-like as ever, but he seems to have softened a little, at least where Julia is concerned. He’s FINALLY decided to give a committed relationship a shot. Of course he has his stipulations; we learned that at the end of Blindfolded Innocence. Julia must be okay with his swinger lifestyle. Seems easy enough -err, at least for Julia. Her first threesome seemed to flip some kind of switch. She’s ready for more and has the chance to experience it when Brad is invited to attend an orgy. Uh, yeah… Can you say kinky? I’m not going to lie – I loved it – A lot.
Their relationship is still a source of concern as far as work is concerned. Julia is worried she’ll piss of Broward if he becomes aware of their relationship. Make sense seeing as he warned her away from the man at every turn. That’s the biggest issue they face until Julia overhears something she shouldn’t. That’s not even the worst of it. Well, it leads to something horrific, which leads to the worst of it. Following me? No? Well that’s okay. When you read it, you’ll get it. Let’s just say something horrible happens and it puts Julia’s life in jeopardy.
It’s no surprise that Julia is falling for, or more than likely has already fallen for, Brad at the start of Masked Innocence. There is something about the man that pulls her to him. He’s got some kind of freakish sex god appeal that she cannot escape. If this doesn’t work out, could she go back to her vanilla sex life? I think the man broke her…or fixed her, one or the other. Either way, it’s hot as hell.
By the end of the book this newly formed couple is in a pretty good place. I should be happy for them. I should want them to live happily ever after, for everything to come together, for Julia to be safe – with Brad. I just don’t buy it. It was too easy. I have this sinking feeling in my tummy. I don’t think things are okay, or will be okay, and I hate the idea that I have to wait to find out. I absolutely hated Brad last book. All I want this time around if for him to want Julia to be his forever; to find the love of his life in this unlikely 21 year old woman.
Is it possible?
Well, anything is possible.
Alessandra, you need to hurry up with End of the Innocence. I need answers! Truth? The tiny blurb for this upcoming installment scared the bejesus out of me. I don’t know what to expect. At all. Ugh. Hurry. Hurry! Readers, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy Masked Innocence as much as I have. Blindfolded Innocence sets up the story. Masked Innocence takes it to a whole new level. It’s fast paced and exciting – in more than one way…
