Resisting Ryann Synopsis:
USA Today Bestselling author Alyssa Rae Taylor amplifies the angst-filled love story that started in RAISING RYANN.
What happens when the person you love becomes threatened by your very existence? How far will you go to keep them safe?
Luke Ryann will do anything to protect the woman he loves, even if it means shattering her heart. When the mystery of his past comes back to haunt him, he leaves Reese behind and enters the life of crime he had worked so hard to escape. When all is said and done, will he be able to get out of this alive, or will he be in over his head?
She’s been in love with him since her childhood, but now she questions everything. After Reese Johnson discovers Luke’s disappearance has nothing to do with the MMA, she faces a difficult choice. Can she find it in her heart to forgive him? Or will the secrets and lies be too damaging for her to trust again? Will this couple ever have a chance? You know what they say.
Sometimes … love just isn’t enough.
RESISTING RYANN is the second book in the Bad Boy Reformed Trilogy. This story isn’t just a romance. It’s filled with action, suspense, mystery, and a touch of humor.
Recommended for mature readers due to situations of abuse, violence, language, and sexual content.
I fell hard for Luke Ryann in Raising Ryann. And man did it hurt. I had to wait for months that felt like years for the next book in the series. Turns out that it wasn’t at all what I expected. Now I have to wait again. I’m all for a good cliffhanger. Raising Ryann had a fantastic one; this time around, eh, I’m not so sure it was needed. But that remains to be seen.
“She means everything to me. She’s my light in the darkness. That woman will be the death of me; I guarantee it.”
At the end of the last book Reese realizes that Luke’s lying about where he’ll be over the next few months. She’s understandably upset and feels somewhat betrayed. A normal response to finding out that the man you love has lied to you. What she doesn’t realize is that he’s doing it all to keep her safe. He has to go undercover inside his father’s organization in order to bring the man down. Keeping Reese safe is his first and only priority.
He inhales a long slow breath. “Home,” he sighs, his lips grazing the bottom of my neck, next to my shoulder. I feel his stubble against my cheek as he softly brushes his lips up the right side of my throat. “You are home,” he breathes, his hand traveling higher and higher.
Sweet sentiment and all, but seriously Luke, just tell Reese what’s going on! Lord knows she’s been through enough and can handle just about anything. I get not telling her his plans at first. He didn’t want her to talk him out of them or do something stupid to prevent him from going after his father. Fine. But months later? I think it’s safe to tell her. If he had, he might not be in the predicament he’s in at the end of Resisting Ryann.
I’m not sold on the ending. If the book had been just a few chapters longer everything could have been nicely wrapped up and topped with a pretty little bow. I know Alyssa has her reasons. That doesn’t make it any easier on us readers. The whole series seems like one giant waiting game.
Regardless of the endings, both Raising Ryann and Resisting Ryann are worth reading. It’s hard not to love both Luke and Reese. Especially Luke. He just needs to get himself together. Again, as in most books, communication is key. If these two would just talk openly and honestly with one another they’d see they’re both on the same page.
Here’s to hoping that the next book in the Bad Boy Reformed series comes out quickly. Waiting for Resisting Ryann nearly killed me.
