Four years ago, my dreams were shattered in an instant.
I tried to pick up the pieces and glue them back together the best I knew how, but something was always missing.
A father for my two girls.
But then, Brody Murphy landed on my doorstep, literally. He was a carefree, playful hockey player who barged into my life and messed with my head. He left me more confused than I had ever been.
What if the one thing I thought I needed was the only thing holding me back?
Poor Kacie. Seriously… What type of a man knocks you up, with twins no less, then turns tail and runs after a year? A dirtbag. Now Kacie is left to raise two beautiful little girls on her own. Being a single parent is rough, but with the help of her mother and the resident handyman, Fred, she gets the job done. When Kacie isn’t helping with the inn, she’s studying to become a nurse. It’s refreshing to see that the shitty hand she’s been handed hasn’t stopped her from pursuing her dreams, which in turn makes her an excellent role model to her little angel babies.
So, a storm rolls in just north of Minneapolis. Brody Murphy is on his way from his mother’s house to his home in Minneapolis when he makes a wrong turn and *poof* winds up on the door step of The Cranberry Inn. Kacie answers the door and there is an instant connection between the two. That’s before she even knows he’s a big wig hockey player. In fact, once she becomes aware of his fame, Kacie starts to seriously question getting involved with Brody. It’s entirely possible that she’s just one in a long time of women he’s “entertaining.”
The more Kacie gets to know Brody, the more she realizes that his intentions are pure. He seems to be a really great guy. He’s focused, driven and drop dead sexy. Even with all the heartbreak her ex caused, it seems that Kacie held back most because he was a public figure. Don’t get me wrong, I would probably have the same doubts and concerns she did. What makes me special? When he could have anyone in the world, why would he chose little old me? Those thoughts are only natural and can so easily taint something amazing. That’s more or less what happens with these could be lovers.
Let’s talk children…
Lucy and Piper are the kind of little girls every mother dreams of. They’re well behaved and have just enough spunk to keep things interesting. The bond they form with Brody is adorable. Come on ladies (and gents), you know you can’t resist a man that is good with kids. It’s like a guy who can play guitar. It majorly ups the sex appeal.
Twists and turns…
For the most part, this is a fairly straight forward tale. It doesn’t stray far from the cookie cutter mold we’re all used to. With that being said, there were a few twists I didn’t see coming. I didn’t foresee what happens on the lake front ultimately bringing Brody and Kacie together. I didn’t see the epilogue ending the way it did. Beth, while I hate you for it, I love you just the same. I couldn’t imagine a better way to set up book two.
Have I mentioned that I can’t wait for book two? I’m looking forward to what will happen with these two, especially with the events that took place in the last few pages. Should be interesting.
Room for You is the type of novel that leaves you feeling slightly satisfied, but wanting more. It’s impossible not to get hooked on this love story. This is a fun, fast read. Great for the upcoming holiday season. Kacie is just an average girl – easy to relate to. She’s an amazing mother and all around determined young woman. Brody is a focused hockey player with a heart of gold.
The question is:
Can Kacie can move past her insecurities and open her heart to the love Brody is offering?
