Parties, sororities and getting drunk.
Oh, yeah. And learning.
This may be true for most college students, but not for Leah Bennett. College life for her includes studying, working, and excelling in school. When it comes to the social ladder, Leah is at the bottom. Popular girls, hot guys and star athletes are of no importance to her, except for one.
Matt is the starting wide receiver at SUNY Cortland, the most wanted guy on campus and Leah’s best friend. Although Leah’s feelings toward Matt run deeper than just a friendship, it is something she would never let be seen because the odds of someone like Matthew Jacobs going for someone like Leah Bennett are slim to none.
When Matt starts showing an interest in Leah that goes beyond friendship, she is dumbfounded and doesn’t believe it is possible – until one weekend that changes everything.
Will Matt and Leah’s popularity status get in the way of having a chance at a real relationship?
Or does status mean nothing when it comes to true love?
Waiting on Forever is such a great spin off story to Planning on Forever. It was such a cute, light story of opposites attract and finding love when you least expect it. Matt and Leah’s story was a very heartwarming 4 stars for me.
Matt and Leah are two totally different people. Leah is an outspoken nerd that is way more focused on her academics than socializing. She has come to college with no intention of cutting loose and experiencing the carefree lifestyle of a college student. Matt couldn’t be more of her opposite. He is the typical popular football star who plans on having the time of his life in college. He is the guy that every girl wants.
Matt and Leah meet during orientation and somewhat hit it off, as friends anyway. Leah has a snarky attitude that intrigues Matt. After orientation, they keep in contact through social media. But, suddenly, they keep running into one another and start spending more and more time together. The more time they spend together, the more Leah has a hard time denying her feelings for Matt. But she scared to put her heart on the line, especially for a guy that could have any girl that he wanted.
Matt was the over the top sweet. I loved everything about him. He seemed so in tune to the emotional needs of Leah. And then, when he went through some personal struggles, my heart broke for him and I fell in love with him even deeper. He was such a refreshing character.
Leah’s feisty nature had me laughing. It was pleasantly unexpected because I thought she would be this introverted book worm. Oh no, nobody got over on Leah without her having a few things to say about it. Even with her outspoken nature, she definitely had insecurities that affected her ability to open up to Matt.
But damn if it isn’t all true.
Waiting on Forever was another sweet, quick read from Ashley Wilcox. You do not have to have read Planning on Forever to read this one. However, this one does contain some spoilers for Planning on Forever. So, if you’re planning on reading the entire series, then they need to be read in order. Otherwise, you can pick this one up and won’t have any problems following.
