Jenna Theopolis has always known what she wanted. Getting out of her small hometown of Greenfield was number one on her list of priorities. Until she met Rusty Catron.
Rusty’s fun-loving personality was the perfect match for Jenna’s inner wild child. But what started off as a summer fling quickly turns into something more. At least it does for Jenna.
Rusty has lived with the ghost of his father’s abandonment since he was a child, but now he’s beginning to feel the crippling effects of his scars. He wants to trust in Jenna, but deep down he doesn’t believe someone so wild and free can ever be tamed.
But tragedy strikes, pushing Jenna out of Greenfield and leaving Rusty with a choice to make—face his inner demons or lose the love of his life. Forever.

It’d been a year since I read The Wild Ones by M. Leighton, but it didn’t take long to remember how much I loved Trick, Cami, Rusty, & Jenna. Wild Child is Jenna and Rusty’s novella, and I looked forward to getting their story after getting a glimpse of them in the first book.
I loved that we caught up with Trick and Cami and what was going on with them, while also being taken on quite the rollercoaster of Jenna and Rusty. Like M. Leighton does so well, they have a smokin’ relationship. For every sweet moment, funny arguments, there’s the perfect amount of hot, hot chemistry. I never felt like I was reading a novella because there was plenty to this story. I didn’t feel shortchanged at any one point, but I will say, I do wish there was more. I felt like I went through such a ride, and then it was over. And I realize that it probably just me being greedy, but such is life.
The story had it all: steam, comedy, tender moments, omg moments, and heartbreak. On one particular occasion, I found myself choking back some tears in the doctor’s office lobby. Fantastic.
I’m keeping this short, because it’s short. I don’t want to allude to too much of what happens, but I definitely recommend this series. I am really looking forward to the other books coming up in the series, as well. Ms. Leighton really has found her niche within this genre. Her writing is engaging, the storylines keep you more than captivated, and the chemistry between the characters has you flipping through the pages as fast as possible. These stories, like her Bad Boys series, have all the elements of superb storytelling and I will always recommend them!
